At Sensible PC Solutions Ltd we have the facilities and infrastructue to cater for all your computer requirements, whether you are a complete novice home user or a multi-million pound turnover company we are here to help. Following are just some of the problems you may be experiencing.

Computer Slow:

Your computer can be slow for a number of reasons but most people put it down to their system being old and out dated when they are not. Normally a couple of hours TLC will see that computer performing as it did the first day you opened the box. We follow a strict methodology when attempting a repair that's tried and tested and covers all aspects of a computers workings. Whatever your problem may be, we always apply this methodology, so everytime you have a computer problem, your computer recieves a complete overhaul. We don't just repair the issue and leave. We also guarantee our work; if you are not happy, you don't pay us until you are.

Pop ups, pop ups and more pop ups:

Normally caused by spyware or a virus infection. There is one golden rule to remember here. Never respond to a pop up asking for credit card details; never mind how bad it says your computers health is. Its a scam. If you're not sure, give us a call, we don't charge for advice. If you are recieving pop ups that normally means you have some sort of infection and just because you use a pop-up blocker doesnt mean you are safe; pop ups need to be investigated and can be removed fairly easily with the right software and process.

Blue screen of death:

Sounds like a hollywood horror movie but it's not it's a Microsoft horror story. Again if you are getting a blue screen then something is wrong, and again it is easily rectifiable. The dreaded blue screen of death is caused normally by a conflict or a corruption in something important like a driver or the registry. It could even be caused by a virus or hardware failure, and normally comes into fruition after you have installed a new piece of hardware, or your computer has had a crash (crash - meaning frozen or not shut down properly). Don't panic, it's not the end of the world and just because you cant see or get to your data doesn't mean its not there still. Give us a call, we can help.

Spam Spam Spam:

The scurge of the internet. Spam is caused by a number of reasons but two of the main ones can be avoided. Be careful where you enter your email address on the internet. Do not dish it out willy nilly otherwise you will become a member of a huge database that gets passed around by surrupticious and unscrupulous companies that sell your information to less then desirable agencies and before you know it you'll have an inbox full of viagra.  And secondly, never reply or open spam or emails that you aren't expecting from people you don't know. Normally spam is generated by a huge computer that starts at A and works its way through the alphabet hoping that it finally finds a genuine email address. aaaa@msn.co.uk aaab@msn.co.uk aaac@msn.co.uk etc etc. If you reply to it , it records your details and sells your informaton, and one spam email suddenly becomes one hundred. TIP: have two personal email addresses; one for dishing out on the internet that you don't download to your computer and your real one for friends and family.

Hardware failure:

Your computer is a machine and therefore falable but never unrepairable. However, it may be obselete or uneconomical to affect the repair. Just because your system has failed doen't mean you need a new one. We can inspect it here for you and advise accordingly. We have a huge range of second hand boards, processors, chips and drives that can cater for most eventualities. We can even recover your data (most of the time!) should the worst happen. And again once we affect the repair, we will service your machine fully and install it back into your premises.

AntiVirus and Firewalls:

Antivirus and Firewall: very very important. You shouldn't be using the internet without these and they come in many shapes and sizes. But basically your anti-virus can play a huge part on the performance of your machine and in some cases cause more problems than the virus itself; so choosing your anti-virus is a tricky but important feature of reliable computing. There are some reasonable free antivirus programs available on the internet, although some have major limitations that force you to buy the full version. However a good TIP is let your windows updates download and instal the latest versions. These are free and supplied by Microsoft. Why? because a virus is merely a script that attacks the vulnerabilities in the software. However, Microsoft are continually improving these vulnerabilities and thus nullifing the threat. Also, if you use broadband make sure you have a router rather than a modem as a router normally comes intergrated with a hardware firewall, much more secure than a software firewall; as the threat is stopped before it gets to your machine. Also remember that Virus's aren't necessarily the threat nowadays, but spyware is! Make sure your anti-virus checks for spyware also, particually if you are a downloader. And if your Anti-virus tells you to stop because of a threat then trust it and stop. Also make sure the anti-virus you choose has an email scanner, because nowadays this is one of the main ways of getting an infection through attachments in emails.

We could go on and on forever and make everyone paranoid about using a computer, but basically we are here to help, so if you have any queries or worries/problems then just call us, its free and we are nice guys.
